Designation CG 4 and PGC 21338  (ESO 257-19)
Constellation - Coordinates Puppis  (Pup)  -  07h35min  -46°56'
Description Cometary globules are isolated, relatively small clouds of gas and dust within the Milky Way. This example is very, very dim and about 1300 light years distant. The 'head', which is some 1.5 light years in diameter, seems about to devour the edge-on spiral galaxy PGC 21338 (mag 14.4), which in reality is hundreds of millions of light years away, far beyond CG 4.
