| Description | Visually this fine spiral is
often mistaken for a structureless elliptical galaxy. Only long
exposures bring out the spiral arms and interesting bar-like detail near
the very bright core. Distance from earth to this distant Virgo galaxy
group member is estimated at 60 million light years.
North is down in this 15 x 10 arcmin field of view. |
