NGC 891 es un buen ejemplo de galaxia espiral de canto. Está situada en la constelación de Andrómeda a 32 mio de años luz. Por tamaño y luminosidad es muy similar a nuestra vía Láctea. Llama la atención la banda de estructura oscura y filamentosa de polvo interestelar situada en el disco galáctico. Tiene una mg. de 10,8 y un tamaño aparente de 13,5 x 2,5 min. de arco.

NGC 891 is a good example of an edge on spiral galaxy. It is located in the constellation ofAndromeda at 32 mio light years away from us. Considering its size and luminosity it is very similar to our own galaxy. It has a remarkable dark dust line along its equatorial line. It glows at 10,8 mg. and has an apparent size of 13.5 x 2.5 arcmin.
