El impresionante crater Clavius aparece con todo su esplendor la novena noche después de luna nueva y se vuelve a ver majestuoso dos días después de media luna menguante.

Tien 225 Kms. de diámetro y unos 4.500 mts, de profundidad y es un crater muy antiguo.Tiene dos cráteres de unos 40 Kms. que han aplastado sus murallas, al norte Porter y al sur Rutheford.

En su interior tiene dispuestos en semicírculo una cadena de cuatro cráteres de diámetro decreciente y una infinidad de pequeños cráteres de todos los tamaños.

La imágen fué tomada en Burgos capital con el equipo habitual y utilizando la webcam. Como siempre solo se usaron los mejores fotogramas de varios vídeos AVI que fueron procesados posteriormente con Registax.

Los cráteres más pequeños visibles en la fotografía podrían ser del orden de 800 mts.

The magnificent crater Clavius is best viewed the nineth night after new moon and two days after half wanning moon.

It is a 250 Kms. wide old circus with a depth of 4.500 mts. It has two 40 Kms. wide craters that crushed its north and south rim. They are Porter and Rutheford.

It also has a convex inner surface marked by four craters in a curving sequence of diminishing diameters.

The image was taken with the SC 11" at f/30 using the webcam. Once the best frames are selected, they are stacked and processed using Registax.

The smallest visible craters in the image should be around 800 mts diameter.
