Marte fotografiado desde Burgos capital durante su pasada oposición a finales de octubre de 2005 usando una webcam Philips ToUcam Pro y el SC de 280 m.m. a f/30.

Tenía una mg. de - 2.1, un diámetro aparente de 20.1 arcsec. y estaba a casi 70 millones de Kms. de nosotros. Se distingue perfectamente Syrtis Major que cruzaría el meridiano en breve.

En la favorable oposición de agosto 2003 con el planeta a su mínima distancia de la Tierra ( 55 millones de Kms.) fué posible detectar mediante una exposición CCD desde Ayllón (Segovia) sus dos diminutos satélites Phobos (izda) y Deimos (dcha) de mg. 10.4 y 11.5 respectivamente.

Being at 70 million Kms. away from us , it showed a diameter of 20.1 arcsec. and a mg. -2.1. The most prominent feature is Syrtis Major which would cross the meridian shortly.

During the more favourable 2003 opposition , Mars got even closer to us at some 55 million Kms. away and it was possible to image its tiny moons Phobos (left) with a mg. 10.4 and Deimos (right) with a mg 11.5 from Ayllon. I used a single short CCD exposure.
