USB Live interface modification

Take a look at the modification of Hauppauge USB Live interface...
The first goal consists in making a bridge from the 5 volts USB port to power the external electronic gestion part of the modified video camera. The second goal is to catch the "Write" signal of "USB Live" interface. It will be useful to synchronise our video camera with capture software (launch and acquisition of long exposure images at a given moment with the windows "Twain32" driver) :o)

You have to unscrew the screw behind the warranty label of the interface, spread out the two parts with a screw driver by applying a pressure on one of the lugs at the opposite of the screw on each side of the interface...
You should be able to open the interface easily :o)

Its a 4-step process. I numbered 4 places on the reference pictures.

1) You have to cut the red and white wires at the bottom of the small white connector at the rigth of the interface PCB. These wires are useful for the 'video in' S-Video signal we won't use for this modification...
(I chose to disactivate the S-Video entry. I used the connector of the S-Video entry as well as the cable for powering our "interface of the modification management" (+5v) and providing it the "Write" signal...but if you want to keep this entry you can use another 2 wires cable !!!)

2) You have to solder a lead for these 2 wires and isolate your solders.

3) The lead of the red wire extremity will have to be soldered on the small solder plot on the right, into the circle. It is a +5v from the USB.
Right here, you can see a zoom of this area...
(We will use the video cable shield of the interface to connect the ground)

4) Finally you have to solder the lead extremity of the white wire to the other side of the PCB (see the place behind), best viewed on the zoom on the right to catch the "Write" signal :o)

It was the easiest part of the project !!!
Let's move on to the last part of the project : the electronic management of the modification...
