THE TOOL BOX
The Tools button in the tabs Standard and Window allows you to
activate a new tab window.
This window contains a certain number of utilities. This can be a polar viewfinder
such as the one used in a Takahashi NJP160 mounting. This simulation of a polar
viewfinder will be probably useful even if you use an equipment of an other
brand. Note that your PC clock must be correctly setup (Universal Time) and
that you must declare the longitude of your observation location in decimal
degrees. The Polar star is displayed under the form of a green star in the graphical
display.
The tab Sideral Time provides the current Sideral Time (ST) as well as
the Julian Day (JD). If you enter valid equatorial coordinates in the upper
part of the window, you will get automatically the corresponding horizontal
coordinates in the lower part.
The tab Stars provides the equatorial coordinates of a few bright stars.
