18 inch F/4.5

The scope is built around an 18 inch F/4.5 mirror made by Galaxy optics. (galaxy optics home site)

The truss/tube assembly is made out of two main part, the bottom cage which is built out of welded steel tubes, and the top truss which is made out of 0.75 inches carbon tubes.

The mount is an old MI-500 (Mathis instruments) which has been reworked a bit, changes of the dec gear and upgrade to a goto system (Dynostar goto)

The overall scope weights around 300 pounds (never had a chance to put it on a scale) and is now rebuilt on top of a trailer.

The optics and top cage are removed for travel, the scope is re-activated in about 2 hours.

And the scope in the field (No, this is not the moon behind me, this is some dust in the air close to the camera).
