Welcome to Our passion for astronomy has begun several years ago, but since 2005 we were not able to discover our great passion: ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY! At the beginning, it was only a means to see what our eyes were unable to observe. Our first attempts were done with a Nikon D70 reflex camera (with IR filter) and, together with our lack of experience in focusing, capture and post-processing of digital images, all that we obtained were very disappointing results. After read a lots of online tutorials and astrophotography books, and together with the adquisition of a new camera (a Meade DSI CCD camera, all that ours reduced budget could brings), we head for our second attempt in astrophotography. The experience was pretty good and our DSI fulfilled ours expectations. An incredible 'WoW' was exclaimed when we saw the first image. Although the reduced dimensions of the Meade’s ship , its great sensitivity produced (what we believed were) amazing images even with short exposures. It was a stage where we learned a lot of things. Some of the photos taken during that phase can be seen in this web page. As we gained confidence, astrophotography had become not a mere way to observe the skies but a way of creating beautiful renditions of the night sky treasures. As for 2007 springs we bought a Canon 350D and after a few months we adquired our actual camera, an Artemis 4021 CCD. We are still far from perfection, but we know that it does not exist. So every day we learn a little more, we try to improve ourselves and we have lots of plans to do. So here we go! If you want to know a little bit more about who we are, we warn you, we are very common guys ... |

Oriol is a Mechanical Engineer finishing his PhD at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia (UPC) at Terrassa (Barcelona). His main activity is the mathematical formulation and numerical resolution of heat transfer and fluid dynamic phenomena (natural and forced convection, turbulence modeling, etc.). All his efforts are centered in the application of the acquired know-how in this field in order to develop an unstructured parallel CFD simulation code in C++. Other interests: Jazz, macro photography, Sci Fi, …
