  Crescent Nebula and neighbours.jpg -  Click      here   to enlarge    Crescent nebula and neighbours      Crescent nebula (NGC6888) and surronding nebula are located at Cygnus constellation at a distance of about 5000 light-years from Earth. Crescent nebula is a 25 light years bubble blown by winds from its central, massive star. In fact, central star of NGC6888 is classified as a Wolf-Rayet starand is shadding its out envelope.   A Wolf-rayet star is the last stage of a massive star's life. They are big, hot and bright spewing gas and dust in all directions. In fact, Wolf-Rayet stars radiate so much light and heat, they force their own oter gas shells to flee. As they blow energy at a high rate, their life is short, less than a million years. Then, when their nuclear fuel are consumed, their core collapse and die in an espectacular supernova blast.  The foto was taken using narrowband Ha, [OIII] and [SII]  filters during three different nights.
