In
addition to the catalogues it is able to read directly (for instance
the Tycho-2, Hipparcos and Guide Star catalogues available below
in addition to those delivered in the installation package), C2A
for Windows offers the possibility to load and display its own object
catalogues. Those catalogues can be of two different types:
- Either
text catalogues (i.e. under the
form of simple text files whose syntax is described in the C2A
help system),
- Or
compiled catalogues (i.e.
binary files produced with a specialized compiler from large catalogues
produced by observatories).

| Large
C2A Catalogues |
| Three
large catalogues to be used directly within C2A can be downloaded:
- Tycho-2
catalogue in the C2A format (151 MB) - ZIP file to be decompressed.
This version includes the two supplement catalogues. This version
of the catalogue corrects a problem with the stars from the supplement
catalog (found on the 1st of May 2007).
- Hipparcos
catalogue in the C2A format (6.5 MB) - ZIP file to be decompressed
then copied into the C2A installation directory.
- Guide
Star Catalogue (131 MB) - the files in the ZIP archive must
be uncompressed in a directory (named "GSC" for instance)
preserving the sub-directory structure.
Once
these catalogues are downloaded on your disk drive, you must declare
the access paths in the tab "Paths" of the Options dialog
box (F7 key within C2A). |

Catalogues |
| The
syntax of text catalogues is described in the C2A Help system. Text
catalogues usually have the extension ".c2a". An example
of a text catalogue can be downloaded through the link below (put
the mouse cursor over the link and click "Save as..."):
Text

The
C2A catalogue compiler can be downloaded from the Outils
page on this site. It is a simple executable that must be run
from the Windows Command Line. All the necessary steps to create
a compiled catalogue are described in the C2A Help System.
Compiled
catalogues usually have the extension ".CCC"
A
certain number of already compiled catalogues can be downloaded
