Digitized Sky Survey (DSS)

The Digitized Sky Survey consists of a series of Schmidt camera plates covering the whole celestial sphere. These plates where acquired at various times over the last 30 years. They have been scanned and the resulting data made available on 102 CD-ROMs (at 10x compression) or 10 CD-ROMs at 100x compression). Three Internet allow you to retrieve images from the Digitized Sky Survey :

  • ESO Online Digitized Sky Survey (http://archive.eso.org/dss/dss)
  • STScI Digitized Sky Survey (http://archive.stsci.edu/cgi-bin/dss_form)
  • CADC'S DIGITIZED SKY SURVEY (http://cadcwww.dao.nrc.ca/cadcbin/getdss).
