August 2000 observing run at Valmeca observatory, UAI code 184

The run was carried out to observe miscallenous objects such as nice galaxies to asteroids search. For daytime observation, a telescope able to observe sun's corona was used and images recorded by a MAYA Kaf1600 CCD camera. During night time, the 600 mm telescope was used at F/8 cassegrain focus reduced to F/6, a MAYA 2K CCD camera was used.. (See picture below).

Daytime corner

Some images of solar protuberances

Unsharp masking was used. The magnetic structure is remarquable !

DEEP SKY CORNER

To show how this telescope tracks with MCMT and Mpec correction enabled, the NGC 91 field was recorded using up to 5 minutes exposure time with open loop (no guiding) ! The telescope performed very well !!

CCD TH7899M 2x2K, sampling = 0.8"/pixel, 13x13 arcmin, T600, focal length = 3570 mm, f/D=6, NGC91 field.
8 UNGUIDED (1) exposures combined, (60s+60s+120s+120s+180s+180s+180s+180s), Total of 1080 sec exposure,
recorded by L. Bernasconi, C.Cavadore, C. Demeautis, S. Deconhiout.

6 combined exposures of NGC7331 (120s+180s+180s+180s+180s+180s) making a 1020 sec exposure. Unguided exposures. Same conditions as above.

4 combined exposures of M27 (300s+300s+300s+300s) making a 1020 sec exposure. Unguided exposures. Same conditions as above.

ASTEROIDS

A lot of new and already discovered asteroids have been observed.

2000-R37 Issued 2000 Sept. 9, 06:26 UT New identifications:

(18167) ????? 2000 PS27 2000 08 06 Valmeca Valmeca :

Asteroid 18167 needs to be assign to a REAL name, but has been quickly numbered !!

An attempt to observe the new moon of Jupiter (discovered by the WFI with the 2.2meter at LaSilla and confirmed by the VLT) has been done, but failed cuased by a too bright moon nearby or too advanced twilight conditions.

(1) : UNGUIDED : means that the telescope was left tracking, but no guiding stars and RA/DEC corrections are used to compensate from tracking errors.
