UNIVERSAL WYNNE CORRECTOR
- DRAFT PROPOSAL -
Many telescopes , aiming at wide field imaging, suffers from optics degradation due to off-axis coma. To overcome the problem, the Wynne corrector can be installed before the focal plane as it is shown in the following section :
This is a three BK7 lenses system, that can be used for any telescope. This system increase the focal length of a factor of 10%. BK7 can be replaced by something that has better transmission in the UV, to be done...
The next plots concerns a primary mirror having a focal length of 2400mm. There is two issue to pay attention for : the star's size and the distorsion added by the field corrector.
The following spots diagrams shows that almost diffraction limited is reached, for 0.5,0.7 and 0.9 um and field of 0, 0.25 and 0.5 degrees from the optical axis. The black circle is the airy disk.

The F2.4 system is a tough one...

The distorsion maps are given here, 0.3% has to be understood as 11.53mm * 0.003 = 34 um

Here, the same analyzis has been carried out for a 300mm telescope, F3.5
