The optical tube
- The optical tube
Empty tube, with G40 rings. The 89mm minor axis mirror, secondary. Main mirror cell, 9 points contact unit cell. M1 cell weights 4kg, the mirror 4.8kg- The main mirror cell
This is a recycled and refurbished standard 9 contact point unit cell.
- The tube
The tube is made of a new kind of "Bakelite" (but nothing comparable as it was made in the 50s), 1000mm long and diameter of 313mm, and weighs 6.9kg (The same kind made of PVC would have weight 13kg).
- The spider
Classic design, including a 89 mm elliptical minor axis mirror.
View of the tube entrance, showing the spider, the secondary mirror holder, the CCD camera holder abd the field corrector.
Close-up to the backside of the CCD camera holder and the special plate to attach the CCD camera holder to the tube.
- The CCD camera holder
Design by me, modified and made by VALMECA (Serge Deconhiout)... It arrived on the 26th of April 2000, a very nice mechanical part assembly of 1.8kg.
This part must hold properly the MAYA2K CCD CAMERA 4kg weight and allows good and smooth focusing. The inner diameter is 80mm and outer dimater is 168mm.
Top view, camera flange removed, the 50 mm AUDE linear filter holder fit into the camera holder, making possible filtered images (no vignetting). Extreme wide, but extremely compact design, to avoid waste of space between the tube and the CCD camera. MAYA2K installed on top to the CCD camera holder. Rear view, the 2 lenses 80mm diameter field corrector is visible (reflexion).
