Recherche de supernovae dans l hémisphère sud / Research of Supernovae in Southern Hemisphere
· Introduction/Introduction
I have begun the search of SN for one year ( at the beginning of January 2000 ) and in an achaic way , let us say manual . I made 3 minutes of time-exposure per field ( limiting magnitude 19 ) and then I compared in real time with my reference , at the beginning I did not have the images , so the day after I seached them through the DSS . The list of galaxies was made up mainly of spiral galaxies of radial velocity Vr < 5000 km/s and extracted from NGC and IC catalogue . This method pratically allowed me to get 100 fields per night . This allowed me to discover 2 supernovae SN2000P and SN2000cl , but the number of fields supervized is too small to allow a consequent number of search and the chance was the only directing element

For delta > +30° we have 25 SN
Between -30° < delta < +30° we have 30 SN
For delta < -30° we have 4 SN
We notice a lack of 20 SN for Southern Hemipshere
If the magnitude 17 is restricted
delta > +30° we have 14 SN
-30° < delta < +30° we have 18 SN
delta < -30° we have 3 SN
We note that the sky of Southern Hemisphere is less supervized : See the map of the globe of different sites of search amateur and professional .
· Conclusion /Conclusion :
A. Klotz and D. Marchais from the association AUDE planed us a very efficacious software for the search of SN : AudeLA
A mail list exists for the programmation and the debuggs made on the soft : http://www.egroups.com/group/audeladev
The choice of the list of galaxies was made by taking into account objetcs little supervized by amateur astronomers , the PGC , different types of galaxies were extracted from the new PGC catalogue until the magnitude 15 , all that from the TelAuto software .
A new list was established since the beginning of January 2001 , it covers declinaison from -20deg to -70deg and it covers only objects of catalogs ESO , NGC , IC and MCG . It totalizes 8860 galaxies .
We notice from a statistical study that a SN has on an average a magnitude 2.4 more elevated than its galaxy host , therefore 15 for the galaxy us 17.4 for the SN .
The acquisitions on AudeLA are in binning 2x and 60s exposures ( limiting magnitude 17.5 ) . The localisation ( long and lat ) , the path to set the images , the North and the East limits of the meridian , for me no smearing , the altitude of the Sun under the horizon ( which gives the moments of the beginning and end of sessions ) the area of the declination are data which have to be inserted in the software ( via the panel snacq above ). I set the areas of magnitude to be searched in the file confacq . The strategy consists in limiting the area to 15 during the course of the moon and using the area 15 - 15,5 without the course of the moon .
The frequency is a little more 40 fields / hour and at the end of 10 days I observe again the same fields . All that is possible because of the file sn2.log which notes each acquisition . It allows to draw graphs for eventual statistics , at the end of the 10 days this file is reset.
The checking is executed with SNVisu , 2 windows where the image and its reference apparear , 200 fields / hour can be checked .
