KEELER; James E.; 1857-1900; USA

His works at Lick with CURTIS and BARNARD were aimed at nebulae and clusters. He confirmed photographically the spiral structures observed by ROSSE. During his studies, he discovered some nebulae included in the IC2 ("Monthly Notices") with the Crossley reflector of 36-inch. He later became director at Allegheny observatory and instituted with HALE the "Astrophysical Journal".
