PICKERING; Edward C.; 1846-1919; USA

He directed Harvard Observatory between 1876 and 1918, where he produced numerous works including the HD catalogue of stellar spectra (with FLEMING, CANNON, MAURY et LEAVITT). He discovered a nebula in the NGC ("Star-like Planetary Nebulae detected by means of Spectroscopic Sweeps", The Observatory, 1885) and some in the IC by photography ("Annals of Harvard College Observatory").
