STRUVE (VON);
Friedrich G.W.; 1793-1864; ALL/RUS
Professor in 1813 and then director of Dorpat Observatory in 1817, Struve was one of the greatest double star discoverer of his time. Named at Pulkovo Observatory's head in 1839, he discovered double stars there with the 9-inch refractor ("2640 double stars" published in 1837). During his sweeps, he found some nebulae ("Entdeckung eineiger schwacher Nebelflecken", Mélanges Mathématiques et Astronomie).
