FLEMING; Wilhelmina P.S.; 1857-1911; GBR/USA

Aside from 10 novae and 220 variables stars, Fleming discovered the first "white dwarves". But her principal work was to establish a stellar spectral classification (she published a catalogue of ten thousand spectra in 1890, the famous "HD" catalogue). She also discovered thanks to spectroscopy some planetary nebulae from the IC2 ("Annals of the Harvard College Observatory").
