GALILEI; Galileo; 1564-1642; ITA

He achieved the first telescopic astronomical observations thanks to a small refractor he biuld in 1610: he discovered the Moon's mountains, the four "galilean" satellites of Jupiter on January 7th 1610. He managed to resolve the Milky Way into stars and also the cluster M44 (this lead to the persistent belief that all nebulae could be resolved into stars).
