Celestron 10mm Plössl Ocular, with reticle.

This five elements Plössl ocular is a necessary accessory if you want to guide an astrophotography. Its dual-line reticle with 0.2 mm spacing provides a small tolerance box where you can keep a guide star centered. Alternatively, the star can be kept fixed on any of the intersections formed by the reticle hairlines.

Compared to other oculars, this one has a good optical quality and luminosity. If you are looking for a reticled eyepiece, keep in mind that these features are very important when guiding with a very faint star. The better the eyepiece, the easier the guiding task, which worths the extra money. But the eyepiece isn't all you need, some field illumination device is necessary to see the reticle projected over the sky background. I have the Celestron Illuminator. Is uses two LR44 batteries and provides adjustable brightness. Here lies its worse problem, because its lowest luminosity is far too bright for guiding with faint stars. That's why a better solution might be to buy another illuminator, one allowing a fainter minimum illumination, hopefully a pulsing one. I have in mind making some modifications to the illuminator's electrical circuit to implement both things...

Doite Lamp, with led

This lantern has a low-power blue led along with a common white lamp. Using a red filter over the led, you can switch between the red or white light. The LED light is brighter enought for our needs. It works with 4 AA bateries.

Compass

A very useful accessory for quick, daylight-time polar alignment. The difference between the magnetic and geographical north directions doesn't matter, since we only want a first approximation here, especially if we know the observing site's latitude; this provides a better initial approximation for the drift polar alignment procedure.

Celestron 2x Barlow

A must if you want high-precision guiding. It isn't very good, but works. With my scope, due to it's short focal lenght, a 3x Barlow is a better choise...
