The dust and gas environment of comet 8P/Tuttle
Pedro J Gutiérrez, Luisa M Lara y Fernando Moreno - Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC)
Comet 8P/Tuttle has been selected as a possible backup target for the Comet Interceptor mission (ESA). This comet was observed intensively during its previous perihelion passage, in January 2008. From those observations, important information was obtained about the physical properties of the nucleus and coma...
Main-belt comets as tracers of ice in the inner Solar system
Henry H. Hsieh - Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii
As a recently recognized class of objects exhibiting apparently cometary (sublimation-driven) activity yet orbiting completely within the main asteroid belt, main-belt comets (MBCs) have revealed the existence of present-day ice in small bodies in the inner solar system and offer an opportunity to better understand the thermal and compositional history of our solar system...
On the dust environment of comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) from 12 AU pre-perihelion to the end of its activity around perihelion
Fernando Moreno, Francisco J. Pozuelos y otros - Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC)
A Monte Carlo dust tail model has been applied to extract the dust environment parameters of comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) from both Earth-based and SOHO LASCO C3 observations, performed from about 6 Astronomical Units (AU) inbound, to right after perihelion passage, when just a small portion of the original comet nucleus survived in the form of a cloud of tiny particles...
Dust environment and dynamical history of a sample of short period comets II: 81P/Wild 2 and 103P/Hartley 2
Francisco J. Pozuelos y Fernando
Moreno Dánvila - Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía
(CSIC)
This paper is a continuation of the work by Pozuelos et al. (2014) (paper I), where we presented an extended study of the dust
environment of a sample of short period comets and their dynamical history. In this occasion, we focus on comets 81P/Wild 2 and
103P/Hartley 2, which are of special interest as targets of the spacecrafts missions Stardust and EPOXI.
Dust Environment and Dynamical History of a Sample of Short Period Comets
Francisco J. Pozuelos y Fernando
Moreno Dánvila - Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía
(CSIC)
In this work we present an extended study of the relationship between the dust environment of a sample of short period comets and their dynamical history. To this end, we characterized the dust tails when the comets are active and we made a statistical study to determine their dynamical evolution. The targets selected were 22P/Kop, 30P/Reinmuth 1, 78P/Gehrels 2, 115P/Maury, 118P/Shoemaker-Levy 4, 123P/West-Hartley, 157P/Tritton, 185/Petriew, and P/2011 W2 (Rinner).

Inversion of cometary dust tail images

The inversion of cometary dust tails provides
an excellent method to infer relevant physical parameters of comets, such as
particle velocities, size distribution, dust mass loss rate, and their temporal variation.
The dust environment of comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann

Moreno Dánvila - Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía
(CSIC)
A Monte Carlo inverse dust tail modeling of
ground-based images of comet 29P/Schwasssmann-Wachmann 1 has been performed.
The images of the comet were acquired on several nights on July 2004, a few
days after the 2004 perihelion passage. The analysis takes into account the
rotation properties of the comet, incorporating dust ejection from active areas
on the nucleus surface...

asteroides
Julio Castellano, Esteban Reina.

Ignacio
Ferrn (Center for Fundamental Physics,University of the Andes, Mrida, Venezuela.)

la inclinacin (i) y la excentricidad (e), vemos condensaciones aqu y all.
