 Drive Screws

The drive screws require a compromise between resolution and strength. Too large and the resolution is low - too small and they flex under gravity when the main scope tracks. I chose 6-32 stainless steel. It seems quite stiff, while keeping the resolution I would like. I would have prefered 8-32, but I couldnīt find any locally.

Here is an overexposed picture of the parts in the DEC drive. The motor coupling is on the left, and the knob is on the right. The washers and the bushing are brass, and make up a bearing for the pivoting drive nut, shown in the center of the screw.
