My scope is a Meade 10" LX-200 f/10. I have some focal reducers (0.63 and 0.33) to allow changing the apparent focal ratio to f/6.3 and f/3.3. With some handy T-extenders I can get all manner of intermediate focal lengths. I tend to shoot around f/3.8 most of the time.
I picked up an ETX when Meade was dumping the non-EC versions for around $250 each. I pulled the 80mm f/5 off the LX, and built a mount for the ETX, so I can use it as a guidescope. The focal length of the ETX is perfect when I shoot at f/4 or less. |
