the Sunflower galaxy M63 from Thézac (dept. 17, France) 15/07/2015

Guiding: Orion 80ED refractor F=1200mm camera LodeStar, PHDGuiding
Telescope: C8 at F=1260mm
Mount: SkyWatcher EQ6
Imager: Atik 314L+ at -9.5°C
Moon: no moon
Conditions: 17°C
Exposures: L:15x240s en bin1 R:7x240s in bin2 G:7x240s in bin2 B:7x240s in bin2
Offsets: 15x0.001s
Darks: 8x240s in bin1, 3x240s in bin2
Flats: L:15x0.023s R:15x0.37s G:15x0.03s B:15x0.0175s
Processing: IRIS then GIMP.
Commentary: very good conditions, at last a good polar alignment and a good guiding. The only problem is that M63 was quite low in the sky, so the background of the sky was less good that at the top of the sky, more difficult to process, and some images at the end to throw out.

Guiding: Orion 80ED refractor F=1200mm camera LodeStar, PHDGuiding
Telescope: C8 at F=1260mm
Mount: SkyWatcher EQ6
Imager: Atik 314L+ at -9.5°C
Moon: no moon
Conditions: 15°C
Exposures: L:7x240s
Offsets: 15x0.001s
Darks: 3x240s
Flats: 11x0.02s
Processing: IRIS then GIMP.
Commentary: good conditions, but I had lots of issues with my computer, the USB ports seemed not to work. Therefore while transfering some pictures from the Atik to the computer, it went blocked. Then came the turn of the LodeStar, which caused a lot of guiding errors. Finally I did only black and white images (luminance), but I could take 4 minutes exposure images. Few results that night!

03/06/2011 at Sommières-du-Clain, Vienne (dept. 86, France)

Telescope: Orion 80ED refractor at F=600mm
Guiding: none
Mount: Celestron CG5
Imager: Atik 314L+ at -13,5°C
Moon: no moon
Conditions: calm, few fog at the horizon, 15°C, dry air
Exposures: L:12x60s in binning 1x1 RGB:3x2x60s binning 2x2
Offsets: 23x1/4000s in binning 1x1 and 23x1/4000s in binning 2x2
Darks: 5x60s in binning 1x1 and 5x60s in binning 2x2
Flats: L:33x0,001s RGB:3x13x0,001s
Processing: pre-processing IRIS: offset, dark, flat then registration and addition on each layer. Combining RGB. GIMP: curves, levels, resizing RGB layers and addition with L layer.
Commentary: very difficult processing. Next time I'll do RGB layers in binning 1x1, it will also avoid me to do darks, flats and offsets in binning 2x2. I need more exposures.
