3C273 Quasar in Virgo
(RA 12h 29.1m , Dec. +2°03', variable / 13 mag.)
This is the brightest quasar. At magnitude 13 (variable) it is easy to spot in medium size telescopes about 2°30' SE of 16 Virginis (see finder chart below and annotated image below).
The above image was taken on January 14, 2002 from Harrowsmith , Ontario using Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope. It is composed of seven white exposures (30 sec. each) processed with AIP4WIN.
North is to the left.
