Abell 1656 Galaxy Cluster in Coma

(RA 13h 00.1m , Dec. +27°58', 12-16 mag., 60 arcmin.)


This galaxy cluster is located 2°40' W of b Comae (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on June 2, 2002 from Harrowsmith , Ontario using Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera on Celestron Ultima 8 f3.0 telescope, autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. This mosaic is composed of ten "tiles" (each assembled from 5 or 4 x 60 sec. white exposures) processed with AIP4WIN and combined using Corel PhotoPaint 8.

North is up. The above image is reduced to 50% of the original.
