Andromeda II Dwarf in Pisces

(RA 1h 16.4m , Dec. +33°27', 13.5 mag., 3 arcmin. ?)

This dwarf spheroidal member of the Local Group is an extremely difficult target even for CCD camera. It is hidden between a small group of stars about 2°35' SE of b Andromedae (see finder chart below). To show it in the above image, stars had to be "erased":

The above image was taken on January 7, 2002 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Seven white integrations (240 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN.

North is to the left.

Map created in Guide 7.0 - 7°45' x 7°45'. North is up.
