Argo Navis immortalizes the ship on which Argonauts (including Castor and Pollux, Hercules, Asclepius, Cepheus and Orpheus) sailed to find Golden Fleece. In 1750s it was divided by Lacaille into Puppis (theStern), Pyxis (the Compass), Vela (the Sails) and Carina (the Keel). Only the northern parts of the first two are visible from Canada low over southern horizon in winter and spring.
