Copeland's Septet in Leo

(RA 11h 37.9m , Dec. +21° 59', 13.6-15.2 mag.)


This tight knot of interacting galaxies lies 55' NW of 92 Leonis (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on June 3, 2002 from Harrowsmith , Ontario using Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope, autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Six white integrations (240 sec. each) were processed with AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
