Planetary Nebula IC289 in Cassiopeia
(RA 03h 10.3m , Dec. +61°19', 13.3 mag., >34" in diameter)
Faint "I do not see 289" almost lives up to its name even with CCD! It is located about 6° NNE of h Persei (see finder chart below), close to IC1805 and IC1848 nebular complexes.
The image above was taken on October 23, 2000 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. It was a very clear and calm night with some auroral activity. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with eyepiece projection to achieve f20. White exposures (20 x 30 sec.) were combined using AIP4WIN software.
Only a quater of the original Cookbook frame is shown. North is to the left.
