IC4997 Planetary Nebula in Sagitta

(RA 20h 20.2m , Dec. +16°45', 10.9 mag., 2 arcsec.)


This starlike planetary is visible 3°20' SSE of h Sagittae (see finder chart below).

The above image was obtained on July 19, 2003 from Harrowsmith, Ontario with self-guiding Cookbook 245/211 CCD camera on a Celestron Ultima 8 f10 SCT. Seven white images (30 sec. each) were processed using AIP4WIN. The nebula corresponds to the bright "star" at the center.

North is toward the upper left corner.
