M69 = NGC6637 ( 18h 31.4m -32°21´, 7.7 mag. )


This globular cluster in Sagittarius was discovered by Lacaille in 1752 and Messier observed it on August 31, 1780. At the distance of 33,600 ly, M69 is heavily obscured by Milky Way's dust clouds. It is located 3° NE of e Sagittarii or 1°50' W of M70 (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on June 3, 2002 from Harrowsmith , Ontario using Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope. Nineteen white integrations (30 sec. each) were processed with AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
