Planetary Nebula NGC1501 in Camelopardalis

(RA 04h 07.0m , Dec. +60°55', 11.5 mag., 52" in diameter)


This is a faint annular planetary nebula located in SW region of Camelopardalis just South of the end of Kemble's Cascade and small open cluster NGC1502 (see finder chart below).

The image above was taken on February 17, 2002 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 SCT autoguided with Cookbook 211 on a 500mm f8 guider scope. Ten white exposures (240 sec. each) were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered images (3 x 240 sec. each) using AIP4WIN software and the image was furter adjusted in Lab color space with Corel PhotoPaint 8.

North is to the left.
