NGC1723 in Eridanus

(RA 4h 59.4m , Dec. -10° 59', 11.7 mag., 3.2 x 2.2 arcmin.)


NGC1723 lies about 45' S of 63 Eridani and is accompanied by a trio of fainter galaxies (see finder chart and a legend below).

The above image was taken on February 11, 2002 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 SCT autoguided with Cookbook 211 on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Seven white exposures (240 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN software.

North is to the left.
