NGC2174 Emission Nebula in Orion
This large and bright nebula surround open cluster NGC2175 located about 2°15' SW of h Geminorum (see finder chart below).
The mosaic above was assembled from 4 images taken on January 23, 2000 from Sooke, BC. Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera was used on Ultima 8 f3.0 telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Each tile is composed of white exposures (6 x 60 sec.) as well as cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered integrations (3 x 60 sec. each) combined in AIP4WIN. Mosaic was then assembled using Corel PhotoPaint 8 and color adjusted in Lab color space.
North is to the right.
Map created in Guide 7.0 - 7°45' x 7°45'. North is up.
