Interacting Galaxies NGC3395 & NGC3396 in Leo Minor

(mag. 12.3 & 12.4)


This is a really elegant face-on barred spiral galaxy located 1°24' SW of 46 Leo Minoris (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on May 3 & 4, 2003, from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Newly constructed self-guiding Cookbook 245/211 CCD camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with f6.3 focal reducer. Thirteen white exposures (900 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN.

North is to the left.
