NGC3941 Galaxy in Ursa Major

(RA 11h 52.9m , Dec. +36 59', 10.3 mag., 3.7 x 2.6 arcmin.)


This small but bright barred-spiral galaxy is located in the very southern portion of Ursa Major, about 340' NE of 61 Ursae Majoris (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on March 15, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Seven white exposures (240 sec. each) were combined using AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
