The Mice (NGC4676 Interacting Galaxies) in Coma

(RA 12h 46.2m , Dec. +30°44', 14.1 mag., 2 x 1 arcmin.)


This pair of interacting galaxies can be spotted 3° W of 37 Comae (see finder chart below). Bright galaxies NGC4559, NGC4631 and NGC4656 are nearby as well.

The above image was taken on June 3, 2002 from Harrowsmith , Ontario using Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera on Celestron Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope, autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. Seven white integrations (240 sec. each) were processed with AIP4WIN.

North is to the right.
