NGC6633 Open Cluster in Ophiuchus

(RA 18h 27.2m , Dec. +06° 34', 4.6 mag., 27 arcmin.)


This loose , bright cluster stands out against the Milky Way's background even in binoculars. To locate it, look 5°30' SEE of 71 Ophiuchi (see finder chart below).

The above image was taken on May 19, 2001 from Harrowsmith, Ontario. Cookbook 245 LDC camera was used on Celestron Ultima 8 SCT with f3.0 focal reducer. White (15 x 30 sec.) exposures were combined with cyan, magenta and yellow-filtered integrations (5 x 30 sec. each) using AIP4WIN and the image was further adjusted in Lab color space using Corel PhotoPaint 8.

North is to the right.
