NGC7006 Globular Cluster in Delphinus

(RA 21h 01.5m , Dec. +16°11', 10.5 mag., 2.8 arcmin.)

This faint cluster 3°36' East of g Delphini (see finder chart below) is one of the most distant Milky Way globulars. It is located about 185,000 ly away from us and about 150,000 ly from Galactic Center. Of course that is still a lot closer than the record setting NGC2419 in Lynx.

The above image was taken on July 10, 1999 from Sooke, BC. Cookbook 245 LDC CCD camera was used on Ultima 8 f6.3 telescope autoguided with Cookbook 211 LDC CCD camera on a piggybacked 500mm f8 telephoto lens. It is composed of white integrations (6 x 240 sec.) processed with AIP4WIN.

A few distant galaxies are also visible in this field including PGC65907 (close to the pair of stars below globular) and PGC65908 (in th lower left corner).
