Veil Nebula Complex

Field centered on R.A. 20h 50' & Dec. +31° 10'

Wonderful supernova remnant, I tried many times to recorder the OIII part but it is very faint and few films are actually sensitive to it. The only successful result was on the old Supra 400 which unfortunately was very grainy. To overcome it a mosaic of two 45min luminance layer was taken on Hyp TP (96h @ 50°C) and than combined with a 3x60 minutes stack of color Supra 400 shots. The complex is composed by the eastern part NGC6992, the western part NGC6960 and the central part NGC6979 which is also called the "Pickering's Wisp". Clicking on the picture or on the name will pop up a new window with enlargement of the eastern or western halves). Click here to see only the B&W TP luminance.
