The Lunascan Project takes no stand on this controversial photo. This is merely what was reported in a book entitled, "Extraterrestrial Archaelogy" by David Hatcher Chldress:
"(Area Blow-up) NASA LO IV Photo No. 187H2. The Alpine Valley area of the Moon. Notice large cloud-like object covering half of the central crater." - Page 164
We're looking for a better Lunar Orbiter image to see if we can clarify this.
