Brief

A characteristic walled plain, 110 km in diameter. The interior contains a group of central peaks, a complex system of rilles and numerous protruding features on the floor. In the south the height of the wall is less than 200 m, to the east and west it reaches more than 2500 m above the floor; in the north it is interrupted by the crater Gassendi A (33 km/3600 m).
