| Kepler is a very prominent crater with an uneven floor and is the center of a bright ray system. It is 32 km wide, 2570 meters deep, and is located in Mare Insularum (Section 30). The image on the left is cropped from a high-res - JPEG: 3000 x 4667 pixels, and taken by the newest astronomical instrument at the La Silla observatory in Italy. It is a super-camera with no less than sixty-seven million image elements. (See ESO). The arrows point to lunar domes near Kepler. |
