Ideal Lunar Landscape With Typical Formations
T = continent (terra), M = sea (mare), mm =
mare material, c = central peak of crater, v = wall of crater, 1 = walled
plain, 2 = ring mountain, 3 = crater with flooded floor, 4 = crater with
sharp rim, 5 = valley (vallis), 6 = small crater, 7 = flooded crater (remains
of a crater flooded with lava), 8 = mountain range (montes), 9 = mountain
(mons), 10 = dome, 11 = wrinkle ridge, 12 = fault (rupes), 13 = sinuous
rille (rima), 14 = rille, cleft (rima), 1',2'...14' = characteristic
profiles of the preceding representative formations. Typical diameters
of individual types of craters are given in kilometers. Typical heights
are given in meters.
