| Mons Gruithuisen (center of left image) is a mountain massif in the form of a lunar dome with a circular base 20 km in diameter, located in the NW quadrant . The foreshortening effect in this area gives the formation the appearance of an upturned bathtub. There is a summit craterlet 900 m in diameter, which is a suitable test object for larger telescopes. The Lunar Orbiter image shows more detail. |
