"The medium-resolution (above) and high reso1ution (not shown this
date) photographs of the crater Copernicus shown here," said TERRY W. OFFIELD,
of the U.S. Geological Survey, "were taken by Lunar Orbiter V from an altitude
of 63 miles above the Moon's surface in August 1967." The area within the
rectangle, shown enlarged on the opposite page, is 12-1/2 miles wide and
17-1/2 miles long.
