Il y a deux comètes fragmentées : 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann ( 60 fragments) et 141P/Machholz (2 fragments)
Seuls les 12 fragments principaux de 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann figurent dans la liste
Il y a également trois comètes SOHO, lointains vestiges de la fragmentation de la comète d'Aristote
12 comètes anciennes avec P < 200 ans dont le MOID ne peut être calculé ont été rajoutées à la liste en juillet 2005
7 comètes ont des Orbites de Quasi-Collision (OQC) avec la Terre, parmi lesquelles 3D/Biela qui (en principe) n'existe plus
